The proceeds from this race benefit the Hui Laulima O Kekaha Kai. The group was established to ensure the protection of the natural, cultural, and scenic resources of Kekaha Kai State Park in North Kona. Kekaha Kai State Park includes over 1,600 acres. The lands are makai of Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway, and extend from the ahupua’a of Kaulana to the south, to Manini’owali and Kuki’o in the north. The Park encompasses six miles of shoreline, wildlife, geologic features, and ocean resources.

I know that swimming in the ocean may be hazardous; I am aware of and assume all risks with participating in this event. In consideration of this application being accepted, I, the undersigned, intending to be legally bound, hereby, for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, waiver and release any and all rights and claims for damages I may have against race officials, volunteers, sponsors, the City and County of Hawaii and the State of Hawaii resulting from my involvement in this event. I will additionally permit the free use of my name, photograph and interviews in association with this event in broadcast, telecast, advertisements, films, videotapes of any reproduction thereof.
